So here's what you missed ...

It appears I have taken an unplanned hiatus from blogging.  I guess I ran out of things to blog about - wait, that wasn't it.  I have a lot of material, but just no motivation.  I have The Caitlin Syndrome in reverse.  You see when Caitlin (child #2, daughter #1) went off to South Carolina in the fall of 2007 I missed her terribly and started blogging as a way to deal with my feelings.  Fast forward to June of this year - she has graduated from college, moved home, and found a job - within 8 weeks! She's living at home for the time being so she can save some money before striking out on her own.  So she's back.  And my blogging has become almost non existent.  Voila - The Caitlin Syndrome in reverse!

Anyway - here's what you missed ...

After Alaska which I wrote about here, here and here I spent most of August, September and the beginning of October working on my magnum opus - my Alaska photo journal which you can see here if you are at all interested.

Over Labor Day weekend we went to Columbus to help Sera move into her new apartment for her final year at OSU. My how time does fly.  My baby is in her senior year of college.  Yikes.

My birthday was also in September.  I get to add another year to the right digit of my age.  Right digit adds are OK it's the left digit flips that really hurt. I got flowers from Steve and Caitlin and an amazing arrangement of chocolate covered fruit truffles from Jack delivered to the office.  Somehow deliveries always make things more fun so that was awesome.  Sera checked in throughout the day with birthday wishes too! My work BFFs took me out for a great lunch and my non work BFFs took me out for a fun dinner and drinks.  All in all, it was a pretty nice day.

The beginning of October brought Jack's birthday.  Since it's not easy for a mom to buy her going on 26 year old son clothing and since said going on 26 year old son said he really needed clothing, I went down to Columbus and we spent a Sunday shopping and hanging out.  He even cooked dinner - some seriously good chili made from bison meat, sausage and shrimp which we decided should be called Chil-Bo - a combination of chili and gumbo.  It was in a word - amazing. He got some much needed new threads and I got to spend a really nice day with him.  Life is good.

Mid October brought a mini vacation with my hubby to Longboat Key, Florida on the Gulf Coast.  Steve had to be in Florida for work purposes two weeks in a row.  Financially it made no sense for him to come home on the weekend in between so he looked up an old college buddy and stayed with him for the weekend.  I think he felt a little guilty being gone for so long so he invited me to join him Wednesday through Sunday of the second week.  We stayed right on the beach and it was lovely.  The weather was beautiful - we hung out on the beach all day, ate lunch beach-side and then went out for dinner in the evenings.  It was a totally relaxing trip.

The following week found me in Las Vegas for a work conference.  I am not much of a Las Vegas person but I traveled with fun work mates and we stayed at a really nice resort and ate at really great restaurants so how much can I complain?  We even got to visit Gold and Silver Pawn Shop where the TV show Pawn Stars is filmed. That was a highlight! The conference itself was very good - came back with lots of great ideas that need to be put into action.

On October 30th we went to see a production of the Wizard of Oz at Playhouse Square.  It was fun - I mean how can you go wrong with a beloved story that everyone knows?  It certainly was not Wicked, however, not even close.

Oh, by the way, on November 1st my company bought another company and now I am up to my eyeballs in systems integration along with beta testing of our enterprise software's newest release - an outcome of the conference.  When it rains it pours.  But hey it's job security - right?

Last week I got to go to opening night for La Cage Aux Folles with none other than George Hamilton playing the role of Georges.  The show was great, as were the fabulous seats my friend Amy scored for it!

This past weekend the daughter of one of my dearest friends was married so it was a fun busy weekend.  Jack came home to go to the wedding and we got to meet his delightful new girlfriend so that was fun as well.

So, you can see, I've been busy. And to quote another good friend, "it's good to be me."

So that's what you missed

Until next time ....
