A while back I posted about joining Weight Watchers again for the umpteenth time. If you have been tracking my progress over on the left column of this blog you know that I am slowly but surely whittling away the pounds. However I keep hitting these plateaus which everyone assures me is normal. While they may be a normal part of the weight loss process they are extremely frustrating. So last week I made the momentous decision to join a gym. And let me tell you - it is intimidating as hell. All those hard bodies walking around is enough to make someone like me run screaming in the other direction!
But I have not run away screaming. Instead I enlisted one of my friends to join with me. She doesn’t need to lose weight – she is about 2 pounds over her Weight Watchers goal weight – but she has no strength or endurance. So she needs the gym for different reasons so the two of us joined together. The experts say (I’m not sure what experts – I actually think I made this up) that if you exercise with a buddy you are more likely to stick with it. So as Jimmy Buffett would say “… that’s the plan baby, that’s the plan.”
I’ll let you know how it goes.
